As the mixed martial arts world comes down from one sick UFC 103 fight card it’s just about time to get ready for another UFC fight card that is packed with some killer fights, and this time around we are treated to a title fight between Lyoto Machida and Maurico “Shogun” Rua. It’s time for UFC 104 which can only mean one thing, well it actually means a lot of things but most importantly it means it’s time for my UFC 104 predictions.

Lyoto Machida vs Mauricio Rua
As hyped up as the UFC and everyone that is a Mauricio Rua fan wants to make this fight sound the sad reality is that Lyoto Machida is one of the baddest bastards walking around the UFC. Machida has only lost one round in the UFC, he is also the most illusive striker in the UFC to date (just ask Joe Rogan). If Mauricio “Shogun” Rua is going to be the guy to end Machida’s incredible winning streak he’s going to need to bring the best “Shogun” of all time. I don’t see it happening and Im not really sure any other MMA fan see’s it happening either.
My prediction: Lyoto “The Dragon” Machida by second round destruction.
UFC 104 Fight Trailer
Cain Velasquez vs Ben Rothwell
I’m not going to get deep and heavy into this fight, I am not one of the crazed lunatics that thinks Cain Velasquez is the hottest thing to hit the Heavyweight division since sliced bread, nor am I the guy that is impressed by Ben Rothwell. This should be a banger that doesn’t go past the first round,

Gleison Tibau vs Josh Neer
Anyone that has been reading my blog for a while or that knows how I feel about mixed martial arts and the UFC specifically knows that I have no issue basing my predictions on my own personal views as opposed to who I really think will win. This is one of those fights, regardless if Josh “The Dentist” Neer wins this fight or not I am still a huge fan of Josh’s, he always brings the fight and always is more than willing to throw dukes.
My Prediction: Josh Neer by dental dominance.
UFC 104 Poster Machida vs Rua
Joe Stevenson vs Spencer Fisher
This fight is a killer for me because I like both fighters, James and I were discussing this fight earlier today and I really couldn’t decide who I wanted to pick for this fight. Spencer Fisher always brings a fight and Joe Stevenson has fought some of the best competitors that MMA has to offer in his division, doesn’t matter so much if he won or lost those fights as much as it matters that he always shows up to fight. Only makes sense though since Joe “Daddy” Stevenson has like 70 kids. I am really torn here and chances are before the fight I will change my mind 20x about who I really think will win.
My Prediction: Joe Stevenson (maybe)
Anthony Johnson vs Yoshiyuki Yoshida
I’m not sure why but I really don’t feel overly impressed with Anthony Johnson and I feel even less convinced that he will win this fight against Yoshiyuki Yoshida, I hope I am wrong here when I say I don’t think Johnson has what it takes to win this fight.
My Prediction: Anthony Johnson

I googled UFC predictions and this came up? It’s clear you are a casual fan at best. I checked out some of your other event predictions and they were brutal. If you are going to blog about mma maybe you should educate yourself on the topic. Every event prediction you post is pure comedy, as you seem to know literally nothing about the sport and the fighters that compete in it. You cannot spell (illusive?) and are so lazy you cannot even check fightfinder to see what an athlete’s record is. If people do not follow UFC and use this fools predictions to place bets or even take seriously I feel sorry for them.
By the way, it does not surprise me what so ever that you do not see the talent in blue-chip prospects like Cain Velasquez and Anthony Johnson. Or the fact that you do not have a clue that Shogun has never been knocked out in mma or professional muay thai. Thanks for the laughs.

Shogun had a ruptured acl and mcl. Most athletes never come back from that. Shogun FOUGHT Forrest under such circumstances.
Machida is a great fighter that I have been watching since he was Inoki’s protege. BJ Penn (the guy you claimed best Machida in your UFC 101 predictions) was competitive vs Lyoto. Sam Greco, a k-1 striker, took him to a split decision. Shogun had a much better performance vs thir only common opponent (Nakamura). And finally, Shogun trained for years with Lyoto and is also a black belt in karate. So Lyoto’s biggest advantage, timing, will be a non factor. But of course you knew that.
Also, I find it hilarious a guy with your prediction history (Franklin over Vitor, Forrest over Anderson, CC over Dos Santos, Thiago over GSP, Mir over Lesnar) can talk shit to anybody. You talk about keyboard warriors, yet made personal attacks against me, immature ones, and made a fool of your old, immature self in the process.
I googled ufc predictions because I am a capper and somebody that bets serious money on UFC events. Vegas oddsmakers are still inexperienced when it comes to mma. It’s easy money. Okay time to write some sense.
Machida – 2 knockouts on his last 2 fight on undefeated fighters. And yes its a knockout as in lights out.
Rua – 2 TKO fights on his last 2 fights against a 44 year old and a 39 year old. I’d say not as brilliant as Lyoto’s fight. I can’t believe he had a hard time against Mark who is obviously not in tip top shape plus almost 20 years older than him.
So I’d go with Machida but this is UFC so anything can happen. Heck Women top seed (as in no.1) in Tennis lost to some 200 plus seed just recently. So don’t burn me if Rua wins but for now, Machida is the better choice.

I really believe Lyoto Machida is the P4P the best fighter in the world – better than Silva and GSP. He has brought back the spirit of Martial Arts and he’s a 100% certified bad ass.
As for Shogun, I think he is one of the best around, BUT I still don’t feel he is comfortable in the octagon – his fights against Liddell and Coleman (although wins) were against aging men past their primes. His fight against Griffin – who is a solid but 2nd tier fighter imho – was a horrible performance. I know he was having knee problems (I believe) but how does that explaining gassing out the way he did ?
Even the Shogun of PRIDE couldn’t beat Machida. The only way I see Shogun winning is by a lucky, wildly swung, unintended punch.
But trying to fight Machida is basically fighting against someone who is a better fighter than you physical, emotionally, technically, spiritually, and most important – mentally . War Machida !

I had to admit what we saw was the Shogun of old, still judges saw otherwise.
IMO it can go both ways and the fight is so close that anyone can win.
A rematch will definitely erase any doubts.

Hey loser, what’d I tell you? Shogun dominates the fight and clearly won. Like I said, he will always have Machidas number. How does it feel to get humbled you pathetic loser? Every media outlet had Shogun winning. As did Dana, Rogan and Goldberg, along with 95% of the people who watched it. Loser.

Who has the W next to their name? It isn’t your boyfriend Shogun and regardless of your “opinion” or anyone else’s “opinion” on the fight, Shogun lost.
The sad reality is that the third round could have gone to anyone, Machida stuffed numerous takedowns and Shogun failed to capitalize on his punches, or connect for that matter.
Shogun might have won the hearts of many, but he didn’t win the fight lady boy, looks like the real loser was you. Just as I said it would be, the rematch will be no different either, Shogun will not walk out of the ring with the belt.
As a quick note I would like to point out that unlike our little buddy Rico who is much better at running his mouth than he is at anything else in life, I offered to make a post and congratulate you on your win IF Shogun won, asked you if you would be a good sport about it.
As we can clearly see your still just a little one, when you grow up and can handle things anything remotely close to an adult fashion let us know. However if you continue to come here and have me destroy you in the same tone that you attempt to destroy me, thats your call.

Sorry Rico but Shogun lost. No matter how many times you defend him he still lost the fight and our opinions doesn’t matter because all three judges saw Machida won the fight.

) but he put on one hell of a fight, surprised everyone, and most people (aside from the judges) scored the fight in his favour.. I had hime winning, and still do, no matter how many times I rewatch the fight but it doesn’t matter, that was one kick-ass fight, they both came out and gave it their all, and I can’t wait for the rematch

Reading this was very enjoyable. I don’t watch much sports, Carolina Basketball being the exception (class of 74), so I know nothing about MMA. I do, however, know people and love to watch them interact. Especially when one is just playing around. Classic and so funny.
John, I’m sure you remember being young. I remember that I knew everything at 23. What I know now is that I would not go back if I had to relearn everything all over again. (As if I already know it all now LOL)
I also know that if someone were to show up at my door with that kind of attitude, Mr Smith and Mr Wesson would be making sure he left pronto. I understand lack of experience, but I do not tolerate lack of ettiket (yes, it is misspelled.) Life is too short for that.
And I have no doubt, John, that you would have followed up on you
