Ok I decided to post Live UFC 107 results instead of just writing my typical review and posting it the day after the fight, call it the Rum Island Ice Tea’s or maybe the Bud Lights, regardless it’s time to live blog Mixed Martial Arts action provided by the UFC. Here’s my UFC 107 results, actually these will be UFC 107 live results as well as my complete UFC 107 review.
The night started off with an old school old fashioned brawl between Paul Buentello and Stefan Struve, and I mean this thing was insane and for a quick moment Paul Buentello looked like Fedor vs Arlovski with a flying knee by Stroove ended with Buentello knocking Struve down.
The third round of this fight promises to be shorter than the first two rounds, I would be surprised to see either one of these guys make it through this round without getting caught. The third round ended up going the full time, and all I have to say is that this fight will be a tough, tough fight to score. At a glance I would have to give it to Paul Buentello.
The Winner: Stefan Struve
UFC 107 Review and Results
Diego Sanchez vs BJ Penn
Next up baby, Diego Sanchez vs BJ Penn. Diego came out as intense as ever with the, “YES!” chant, meanwhile BJ Penn is coming in to some very slow old school love song from I have no idea where.
Diego gets dropped early and managed to survive and get back to his feet, this is insane. I would have to say that Penn surprised me in round 1, his hands are sick and he put the hurt on Diego early and Diego never really managed to pull anything off. Round 1 goes to BJ Penn.
Diego is being calm even while BJ Penn continues to staulk him and connect with jabs and head punches, Sanchez keeps trying for the takedown and has yet to have any success. BJ Penn easily wins the second round and looks great going in to round 3, Diego needs to start putting some pressure on Penn in order to tire him out. I also feel he isn’t working any legs kicks which might open up a head kick for him, something he keeps looking for.
Round 3 easily goes to BJ Penn, who is starting to walk away with this fight. It is nice to see that Sanchez’s spirit isn’t destroyed yet, but unless he starts scrapping and avoids getting knocked out he’s pretty much done.
Diego Sanhcez vs BJ Penn Round 4
Another round for BJ Penn.
O.k the 5th round ended with BJ Penn hooking Diego up with a brutal shin kick which resulted in a nasty, nasty to the bone cut. BJ Penn owned Diego Sanchez tonight, I’m blown away that it was this one sided.
Frank Mir vs Cheick Kongo
No touching gloves in the middle of the ring, both fighters look very serious and ready to go. Mir dropped Kongo, sinks in the choke and it’s over. Mir by choke, wow!
Kenny Florian vs Clay Guida
I can’t even believe this fight is already up and I am fired up, I like Kenny Florian but I have to say I am a HUGE Clay Guida fan and hope that Guida wins this one, especially after his loss to Diego Sanchez.
Guida came out the same way he typically does, keeping his hands busy and moving aggressively around the ring. Kenny ended up going down and Guida is currently on top. Florian is as fast as ever and managed to kick off and get back to his feet, both fighters continue to throw in the middle of the ring.
Kenny shot and grabbed a leg and Guida managed to change levels and escape the takedown, this fight is getting better with every step. Both fighters are down and Florian is on top. Clay Guida is busted up and Florian is starting to pick up the pace and take control of round one. The round ends with Guida bloodied badly but def. ready to fight, he even managed to crank out a sweet burrrrrrrrrp while the doctor checked out his cut before the round ended. I give round 1 to Florian.
Clay Guida tapped from a rear naked choke after getting caught. Balls. Kenny Florian Wins by Tapout.
Jon Fitch vs Mike Pierce
I’m not gonna lie, I missed the first minute or so of this fight to go and grab another beer, I came back to find Fitch on top of Pierce’s back hitting him with punched from behind. Pierce managed to get back to his feet and slam Fitch to the ground, Pierce is controlling position on the ground. Fitch ended up getting the fight back up to the feet, both fighters exchanged in the center of the ring briefly as the round came to an end. First round goes to Fitch.
I really can’t say anything exciting about round 2, I would have to give the second round to Fitch as well. I hope the third round is more exciting.
Pierce hurt Fitch late in the third round which was about the only exciting part of the round, I would have to give the third round to Pierce for catching Fitch and hurting him. My guess is Fitch holds on to win the decision. Jon Fitch wins by unanimous decision.
Alan Beclher vs Wilson Gouveia
Alan Belcher defeats Wilson Gouveia in round 1, winner by TKO. I’m happy to see Belcher win after he got screwed at UFC 100, don’t wuote me on that I’m pretty smashed.
Overall it has been a very satisfying night of MMA which I couldn’t be more excited after a boring ending to UFC 105 and another non-title bout main event for UFC 106 Ortiz vs Griffin.
Before I get out of here I want to remind you to check out my UFC 108 Predictions and be sure to stop by MMA Punk and get involved in the UFC 108 Predictions Contest that James (@mmapunk on Twitter) has going on, you could win $100 just for predicting the fights.

Exciting night of fights!
I still can’t believe the way BJ Penn made Diego look like an amateur. I want to say I have a new found respect for BJ, but yeah than I remember the way he went to his mom to whine about GSP.
I’m still hurt that Clay lost. He just isn’t the insane, don’t know what he’s going to do next Clay. He’s the I’m going to stand right in front of you and let you hit me know Clay and that’s not a winning plan.

@Mike from Daily Shot Of Coffee, I would have to agree with you, I do have a new found respect for BJ Penn. Not that I ever really doubted his ability, I just thought for sure that Diego was going to be much faster and vicious. The vicious never showed up, I think once he got dropped by that right hand everything else went out the window.
As for Guida, very very crushed. Florian bugs me, but he threw some vicious elbows that really came out of nowehere.
How about Mir killing Kongo, and fast. That was pretty tight.

@Extreme John, You’re right about the Mir fight (not even including the other guy’s name – he didn’t show up to fight).

@safaridave, makes two of us.
Loved the bloody mess that Clay Guida gave us. He lost but he sure is exciting to watch.
BJ BJ BJ.
I know you guys all hate him but he is the man at 155.

@safaridave, clearly the truth my friend.

Can’t believe Penn bursted Diego bubble. I could have sworn that all the stars were aligned for it to be Diego’s night to take the belt! Just like the way Penn lost to Pierre, Diego has to take this lost and use as motivation to get back in line for another title shot that I’d like to see him attain. Even with this lost he’s still one of my favorite fighters. He’s just got that warrior spirit, and he’s a gamer. Ohh well got all the picks right except for the Penn fight!

@sangalicious1, not only did he burst Diego’s bubble he busted mine too.

I knew Penn would win, but to think that he would obliterate Sanchez with such swift efficiency was beyond expectations for sure.. Sanchez never managed to build any momentum and didn’t recover from that first knock-down blow either mentally or physically – insane!! There’s nothing left in the way of challengers at LW for the prodigy, so I guess he can start looking at pursuing his super fights again..
Frank impressed me.. I figured he’d win, just not so quickly and devastatingly.. I thought at least Kongo would make a bit of a fight of it… I still dislike Mir, but there’s no denying the man’s abilities.
I also thought that Buentello would take the decision, based largely on his knockdowns of Struve, but I can’t fault the judges decision.. Struve did land more shots than “the Headhunter”
All in all it was a good night of fights

@Hard Rocking South African@Music Judge, great recap on UFC 107 my friend. Your terminology is right on point.
What a show! I missed the Struve fight but saw the rest of the card. UFC 107 was a night to remember for Penn, Mir, and Florian.
I loved how Mir explained that incredible left: he leaned down and to the right as he threw it, guessing that Kongo wouldn’t see that big left coming around the side. That knockdown was so cool I was acting it out in my living room. I also like why he said he didn’t want to let go of that guillotine. Something along the lines of “that would leave me open for the ground n’ pound, and I don’t really like that position anymore.” Nightmare flashbacks from UFC 100.
Penn showed why he IS the prodigy at 155. I give Sanchez credit for being a tough SOB. This fight would’ve been much more competitive if Penn hadn’t taken the advantage so early on. It was almost over in the first round. Sanchez was seriously hurt after that exchange, and his game showed it. I think we’re ready for Penn/GSP 3.

@sean@adjustable beds,
I don’t know about Penn and GSP 3. GSP is too big and too strong for Penn in my opinion.

Florian doesn’t really look like a UFC brawler, but he always suprises and can definitely kick some a$$.

@Matt@Canton Georgia Foreclosures,
Kenny is a tactical fighter…he chooses his moves well.

I got to admit I was surprise how easy BJ beat Diego and how Diego never won any round. That gash in his head was the biggest cut I’ve ever seen in UFC fight. BJ was a class in his own, too bad GSP was just too big for him.
Mir doesn’t need any more than half a minute and a half to finish Congo as his left hook was more than for Congo to handle. Congo decided just to pass out instead of tapping…too much ego I think.
For the Guida fight I was disappointed the fight didn’t last up to third round…as Guida is an exciting fighter…always on the attack.

I really enjoyed the fight card. I was impressed by Mir and Penn, to be honest. And yes, Penn’s leg kick was f*cking brutal. I like Guida a lot, but I anticipated Florian winning, if I remember my predictions correctly. But yeah, overall, it was a better card than the last few months. I can’t wait to see Dinosaur vs. Dinosaur, in Coleman vs. Couture, early next year.

i liked all of the fights. At the end of the penn sanchez fight diego looked beat up with that huge cut and his face had huge swelling the biggest beating he had ever had. Mir and Kongo was short and sweet. Kongos kickboxing is great but he needs to learn to grapple

Yeah he’s in some trouble I think, he might have had a draw recently but he lost that fight and he knows it as does the UFC.
