UFC 108 Predictions and Odds

I usually have my UFC predictions out a little earlier than I am getting my UFC 108 Predictions out this time, I will be just like everyone else and use the holidays as an excuse. After coming off of a complete destruction of Diego Sanchez by BJ Penn at UFC 107 and a crazy Scott Smith comeback like KO over Cung Le during the latest Strikeforce event just a week ago it’s time for some UFC action with UFC 108.

One thing I like to do before I get my UFC 108 predictions and betting odds posted is remind everyone that I am just your average UFC and Mixed Martial Arts fan (MMA), I never claim to be some superstar at picking fights or some legend that has been watching the sport from birth. I have been watching UFC since the very first UFC 1 way back in November of 1993, just about all of my picks are based on who I WANT to win the fight and not always who I think will actually win the fight. I have issues, that’s just me.

Oh yeah, I also own the Mixed Martial Arts blog MMA Punk.com and James @mmapunk on twitter holds UFC predictions contests for each UFC event, you can win $100 Gift Card for predicting the winning fights. Easy as pie. Check out UFC 108 Predictions Contest.

UFC 108 Predictions

Rashad Evans(18-1-1) vs Thiago Silva (14-1-0)

ufc-108-predictions

UFC 108 Poster Evans vs Silva

As much as I would love to say this fight excites me as a main event it really doesn’t, it’s probably because I really don’t care who wins this fight. Now before everyone starts getting all pissed off at me for down playing the fight, I’m not. I just prefer seeing title matches as main events, but with just about every UFC champion injured or recently in action I can understand why we get this fight instead.

It’s very possible that Rashad Evans might find himself laying on his back looking at the lights if Silva can get his hands on Evans, if that doesn’t happen and Rashad manages to fight his fight I don’t see Silva winning. My UFC 108 predecition Rashad Evans.

Dustin Hazelett (14-4-0) vs Paul Daley (22-8-2)

This should be a pretty entertaining fight, I do see Paul Daley getting the win. My UFC 108 pick Paul Daley.

UFC 108 Trailer

Joe Lauzon (17-4-0) vs  Sam Stout (15-5-1)

Lauzon vs Stout should be one of the best fights on the UFC 108 fight card, both fighters have tremendous heart and can fight just about anywhere they need to. I will be pulling for Joe Lauzon to pull out the win over Sam Stout. My UFC 108 prediction is Joe Lauzon.

Jim Miller(15-2-0) vs Duane Ludwig (11-4-0)

Yawn… Sorry no disrespect to any of the fighters and in reality this fight will be another one of those fights that you watch and might not have known who the fighters were, but walk away thinking you watched a great MMA fight. Miller is the pick here, My UFC 108 prediction Jim Miller.

Junior Dos Santos (9-1-0) vs Gilbert Yvel (36-13-1-1)

All though this might not look like the best UFC fight card to ever be put together UFC 108 will be entertaining, this fight should have some fireworks and plenty of action to keep you glued to the TV. Don’t let Junior Dos Santos 10 fight record mislead you, Junior can fight. My UFC 108 pick is Junior Dos Santos.

@Extreme John, I got a bottle of Jager that says I will be victorious.
Hey you need to add (Jager) to your spell check dictionary.

I hope you’re right, but it looks like a weak fight card to me.

@Mike from Daily Shot Of Coffee, I can see where a lot of people might have that thought when taking a look at the card. There should be some decent KO’s at UFC 108 though, don’t let the cover fool ya ;)

I’d go for Evans on this fight, He had trained so hard on this fight not to have those funny pictures again when he was knocked out by Machida…hehehehe…

@sernan, haha those were some classic pictures of Rashad Evans getting knocked out, he was still talking trash on the way down.

@sernan,

Evans was so close in having one of those funny moments again…he did the chicken dance once again as mentioned by Joe Rogan.

I will bet money on Thiago Silva since it is almost 3 times my money if he wins and I dont see him as such a big underdog. Another good bet is that Paul Daley will take it home and double your money.

I think UFC 108 can be a pretty good event after all.

@Johan@UFC Betting, very good points on the betting side of things and I would have to go your route. No sense on dropping a bunch of money to win pennies when you can drop 1/4 of it and make 4x the return, you never know when someone will get KO’d.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a comment.

Another month, another UFC card that has been totally shuffled around by injuries. I hate to say it, but I don’t even recognize half of the names on the main card. I’ll keep my predictions short:

Evans by KO in the second: T. Silva’s a mean-looking dude, but I’d bet on the former Champ here. Evans is a very elusive fighter, and you never know when he’ll come up with a killer punch… Just ask Liddell.

Dos Santos by KO in the second: This guy oughtta be considered one of the top heavyweights right now. I’m pretty sure his hands will get the job done.

Evans by KO. He’s a bad mofo!

Not really sure about most of the others because I’ve need seen them fight.

John this is a great card. Every fight in the main card is atleast a main card worthy fighter. Miller has been appearing more often lately and I’d much rather see the revenge fight for Jardine than :high: rampage and Evans. I guess as van old pro wrestling fan I like this story line better. Silva looks mean. Do you have any doubts on your Rashad pick, I’ve got him in the Insane Limos fight contest and the more I see on this fight the more distant I become from confidence in that pick. :?: love the other picks. …. Out.

@Geoff “loco” motive Byers, thanks for taking the time to leave a comment Geoff.

In regards to Rashad, he hasn’t been in the cage in a while but Rashad is lightning quick. I have seen a lot of the doubt about Rashad winning the fight but in reality I think a lot of that has to do with short term memory and seeing him knocked out against Machida. At the end of the day Rashad is VERY FAST, he is also extremely strong for his size which a lot of people forget, but keep in mind he fought two weight classes above where he is now when he won Ultimate Fighter.

People may have forgotten the talent, speed and strength that Rashad has, I haven’t. Anything is possible, but I see Rashad winning this fight.

Thanks John that makes me feel more secure in the decision to take Rashad. Love the site. Told my buddies about the contest and it’s cool you take time to answer comments. I will continue to enjoy and promote the site to anyone who will listen…..”loco”motive.

P.S. Love the cartoon chicks in the promo…

Think most of the picks are solid – May have a slight upset – Alves could KO Evan’s.
The Fight Night the following week – Maynard VS Diaz – look, I am a big Maynard fan, and I am tired of hearing people say maynard is not a good wrestler – I dont recall watching any fight where he has been taken down. Granted, he has no BJJ, but you dont realize how strong this guy is, and his boxing has come a long way. The only way Gray loses, is getting caught in a submission, which would be him making a mistake, not someone sinking in a choke. He will take diaz down at will – Give the guy some respect !!! He is the next in line for Penn – sorry, dont want to comment on that. Penn is the best lightweight on the planet.

who said maynard cant wrestle?

Heath Tieger December 31, 2009 at 6:37 am

I was on MMABAY, and a few idiots were saying he cant wrestle. Let me tell you, I wrestled the same weight class, and I would look like a child trying to wrestle the hulk if I was on the mat with Gray, and I am a VERY strong light-weight….

To be honest, nothing on this card excites me. I quite often get the PPV and have some friends over as an excuse to play poker and drink beer, but this card isn’t worth the $55. Maybe I will rent some of Tank Abbott’s greatest knockouts and watch those instead! …or go to the local wing place here where they show the fights for free.
