After what seemed like the longest UFC drought of my entire life we were treated to an incredible UFC 117 and now less then 3 weeks later it looks like the UFC 118 Fight Card might turn out to be just as sweat. UFC 118 features the rematch between BJ Penn and Franke Edgar for the Lightweight Championship Title that Edgar ripped from Penn’s clutches at UFC 112 in Abu Dhabi.
In addition to the rematch would should do more then just “deliver” there’s also all of the mayhem surrounding UFC vs Boxing or MMA vs Boxing, hippitty hoopla. Sorry, it just felt right. Anyway, we will be treated (I hope) to some form of decent entertainment when MMA legend Randy “The Natural” Couture takes on former Heavyweight Boxing Champion James “Lights Out” Toney for the……. well it’s for nothing more then just saying a boxer took on an MMA guy and to shut Toney’s mouth, assuming he loses.
UFC 118 Fight Card and Predictions
BJ Penn vs Frankie Edgar
There is something very special to me every time I get to see BJ Penn cry about something, ahhh the chills it sends down my spine. BJ Penn will be coming back much stronger in this fight then he was in Penn vs Edgar I, I don’t think it will be enough to cage Frankie Edgar up long enough to put anything together that will get the job done. Get ready for BJ Penn Tearfest 2010.
My prediction: Frankie Edgar
UFC 118 Trailer
Randy Couture vs James Toney
One would think that not picking Randy Couture with this fight actually taking place inside of an MMA cage would be a crazy decision, especially someone that doesn’t do their homework before making that pick. James Toney does have over 80 fights with 72 of those fights being wins, and 44 of those being by KO. There is a solid if not pretty substantial chance that this thing goes less then a round with Toney KO’ing Randy in a devastating fashion, not to mention we’ve all seen Randy rocked before and never by a an actual Heavyweight Championship Boxer.
O.k. now with all of the good Devil’s Advocate stuff out of the way it’s probably important to point out that I will have every body part crossed hoping that Randy drags James Toney to the ground and beat him there. After the beating he can rear naked choke Toney out to serve it up ice cold and shut Toney’s trap, man can that guy run his mouth.
My UFC 118 Prediction: Randy Couture
UFC 118 Poster
Kenny Florian vs Gray Maynard
Man oh man this is going to be a kick ass fight, Florian needs to keep climbing the ladder to get back to where the UFC once had him believing that he belonged and in order to do so he has to stop Gray “The Bully” Maynard. Awesome fight without a doubt, keep your eyes on this one for possible fight of the night honors. The Bully will continue his bullying ways, I see Florian having trouble with Gray’s power throughout the entire fight.
My Prediction: Fray Maynard
Nate Diaz vs Marcus Davis
Here’s another fight on the UFC 118 Fight Card that has potential to be fight of the night. If Marcus Davis doesn’t get in, get in fast and get the job done I see him getting picked apart and finished by Diaz. I would love to see Diaz get KO’d and the potential is there, but Davis will need to be the “Hand Grenade” that his nickname claims he is or he will be out classed easily.
My prediction: Nate Diaz
Demian Maia vs Mario Miranda
Perhaps not the most well known match on the card, but don’t let this one fool you it has all the makings of an excellent fight.
My prediction: Demian Maia
O.k. that’s that, don’t forget to leave a comment with your UFC 118 predictions.
P.s. We are having a Pre-UFC 118 party thanks to Buzz Shot, check back tomorrow as I will have information posted about the party that will most likely be streamed live on UStream on Saturday before UFC 118.

All right!!!! Back in action with some killer picks for UFC 118. I would love to see Edgar really bring it against Penn and end it with a davastating KO. If Randy can avoid Tony’s power and get this fight to the ground “it’s all over” as Golberg would say.I can’t wait for Randy to shut him up.
I would like to pick Florian but Maynard it just on his “A” game right now. Should be a awesome fight either way. I am a little shocked you picked a Diaz brother to win but I understand where your coming from. Daiz will pick him apart if Davis doesn’t get in and get to work fast. Maia will have his hands full against Miraida, he is no joke . Hope Maia is over his embarrassing loss to Anderson Silva or he is going to have a bad night.
UFC 118 is looking to be another great fight card. Great picks John, very excited,a HUGE pre party with Buzz Shot and all the hotness thats go with it. Then to finish the night off with UFC 118. Does it get any better than that???? My prediction: Greatest UFC party ever!!!!!

Did you already start Buzz Shot? Your smashed I see. Penn will be tearing up Edgar? He couldn’t touch Edgar in the last fight, you did see that right?
I like the Couture in the 2nd pick, IF he doesn’t plan on leaning against the cage and try to dirty box Toney for a moment or two. If he chooses the clinch game he might find out just how hard a championship boxer punches.

Dude, I saw your tweet about this ppv. Believe it or not, I know it’s rare, but I had to miss the show. I couldn’t wait to see what happened though and read the results as soon as ESPN posted them. Family thing – couldn’t be avoided. But anyway, your predictions were right on. I really thought Penn might come back and get the job done, but I guess not. Our cable carrier runs these for months afterwards, so I might have to go back and just order it anyway. I never thought Toney had a chance.

Hey brother whats going on, thank you for stopping by. The fight card was good, I did nail it on the head I think that might be two UFC cards straight, with the exception of Sonnen man handling Silva for 5 rounds and choking in the last 2 mins.
Not sure I would watch this card again, I usually DVR them and watch them the following day, this one I didn’t for whatever reason.
