WEC 41 Urijah Faber vs Mike Brown II

by Extreme John on June 5, 2009 |

Finally! The time has come for Urijah Faber vs Mike Brown 2, and I couldn’t possibly be more excited. This is one action packed Mixed Martial Arts weekend with Strikeforce Lawler vs Shields kicking off the action on Saturday night, the Strikeforce fight card is a hot card too.

WEC events always have excellent main event cards, the under cards always seem to provide excellent MMA action as well, and usually with fighters you probably aren’t very familiar with.

There are a few fights on the WEC 41 fight card that I am excited to see, but let’s face it pretty much everyone that tunes in will be tuning in to watch the Urijah Faber vs Mike Brown rematch. You have your die hard Urijah Faber fans that feel that the Mike Brown knock out of Urijah Faber in their first fight was a “fluke” or “lucky”. Than of course you have your Urijah Faber haters, all though I have yet to actually meet anyone hat doesn’t like Urijah Faber you always have your haters out there, I am certain Urijah has his and they feel that Urijah was bound to get caught sooner or laer.

I have always liked Urijah Faber and honestly Mike Brown wasn’t anyone I even thought of before he knocked out Urijah Faber at WEC 36. A bunch of us headed out to the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Florida for the first Urijah Faber vs Mike Brown fight. I was pretty smashed and the fight ended up being over in what seemed like 13 seconds, just like that…. Mike Brown had knocked out Urijah Faber and won the title.

Let’s get down to current times, it’s time for the rematch and assuming the fight gets off smooth the questions will be answered, was the first Urijah Faber vs Mike Brown fight a fluke or is Mike Brown he new bad ass on he block? Don’t forget to vote below and feel free to leave a comment with your thoughts on Faber vs Brown II. Don’t forget to check back for Faber vs Brown Live Results on MMA Punk.com

My Urijah Faber vs Mike Brown WEC 41 Prediction: Urijah Faber, decision

Jose Aldo Vs. Cub Swanson
This will be another excellent fight on the WEC 41 fight card on Sunday nigh, all though I am hardly an authority on Jose Aldo what I can say is that Cub Swanson always comes to party.

My pick: Cub Swanson

Josh Grispi Vs. Jens Pulver
It’s no lie Jens Pulver is on a terrible losing sreak, to the poin it was rumored hat Jens Pulver would be heading into he announce booth moving forward as opposed to actually competing in WEC MMA events. I am a huge fan of Jens Pulver and have been since his early wars in the UFC, we were lucky enough to run into Jens Pulver at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino after his WEC 36 KO Loss. I want Jens to win this fight in tremendous, old school Jens Pulver style.

My pick: “Little Evil” Jens Pulver

Donald Cerrone Vs. James Krause – My prediction Donald Cerrone

Manny Gamburyan Vs. John Franchi – My prediction Manny Gambuyran

I believe Faber is going to win and not just because I am a huge Faber fan. Come one guys lets look at the facts, they both are opposite fighters. Faber likes to be in close to his oponents to get those fast elbows to the face and Brown like his distance to get his big blows in. Because Faber is a close contact fighter his hands are faster than Brown’s slow powerfull punches. The thing that I like is that in less than 2:23 in the 1st round when the fight ended, Brown suffered broken ribs. If Faber would not have gotten stung with that hit to the jaw it would have went in the later rounds and Brown would more than likely not have been able to go the distance. So, for that reason I am taking Faber, and hoping that he gets some broken ribs in early to ensure regaining the title. I believe that the further the fight goes Faber will pull it off.
