Some of you might remember a post I wrote titled, “When Morons Attack“. In that post I respond to a moron that felt the need to go off on me about my opinion on dumb spam comments, we went back and forth for a while and the moron properly named “SmartGuy” hasn’t been around since.
Every blogger deals with morons that attack them in their posts differently, some bloggers choose to move the negative comments to the spam folder and others choose to simply delete the comments. Than there are bloggers like me who have no problem answering those negative and sometimes nasty comments with the same respect level that is shown by the slug leaving the comment, I have a pretty good back and forth going with a moron named Rico in this post.
One of the things that amazes me about people that visit blogs and read someone else’s opinion and lose it because of that persons opinion, every time I think about it I laugh. What could possibly cause someone to get so bent out of shape that they often can’t even make it through the post without racing to the bottom to flip out with a belligerent rant.
For those of you that typically just read my blog take a second and leave a comment and let us know if you think you would be able to be triggered by someone else’s opinion on a subject to the point that you would lie and make yourself look like a fool.
As for the bloggers that read my blog take a second and let us know how you handle the wise ass’s that leave ridiculous comments or the fools that leave some kind of political agenda attack on blog posts that have nothing to do with politics, and often on blogs that never write about politics.
One thing I will tell you that I do when I write certain posts is to try and get a specific group fired up and pissed off about something that I say, it opens the door for all kinds of discussions and views on the topic at hand. If you read my Rogers Owns Fedor Then Loses post you can clearly see I am baiting the Fedor lovers into trying to justify how they feel about Fedor, if you check the comments field you will see it sparks interesting conversation.

I haven’t had any such comments on my own site yet – luckily (depending on how you view it, it probably sparks a conversation). So I’m not sure yet what to do about it, I think I’ll leave it available for others to see.
Personally I don’t think I could get too pissed off, I’m a very calm person :D But if somebody is lying or really smearing other people/groups of people (like racims), then I might get a little worked up, but I would probably just leave the site and never come back.

Didn’t noticed that you have faced so many morons on your blog. Personally, I face great amount of spam comments but have only faced 1-2 morons till now on my blog, but they were not too harsh in their comments and they ended up the conversation quickly.
I just saw conversations of that person named RICO. You and some other people like ZXT really had very looong talks with each other.

Oh the morons…I tend to like them specially when I can insult them with the same cheap level of discussion (if it can be called so) they start.
On my blog it is filled with these morons on some past posts. These days I think they have got their hand in their *** so they no more type their moronic comments lol. (Recent one came and told me…”Stop blogging or I will hack your ugly website). I told him yea sure..please go ahead a*s capsule lol.
But there was a time when they used to sleep on my blog. I go with the same way as you do..that is I approve and reply them to let them know what a moron they are.
These days the morons have evolved. Now some of the surviving ones are on twitter or other social places where they will keep talking how my blog sucks and how I do to etc (Yet everyday they will read what I write and then talk how it s*cks). In brief those trolls and morons are just another race of human which lack some sense of security and affection. They maybe had a deficiency of their mother’s milk while being a kid and no one gave them much attention while growing up. I wonder if they even have balls. So who cares… I say F*ck the morons!

Its always great to ignore the trolls – when possible. But when someone comes on to your blog to call you out, you gotta stand back up and slap ‘em down hard with one hand tied behind your back – make it look easy, make it a fun show.
Something like this happened on one of my blogs, I had posted a bunch of detailed technical information about some college scholarship, and some kid goes off on me because I didn’t jump up to answer his question from the comment section of a two year old post. So he posts about how horrible my site is, how I don’t care about students, how I don’t know anything about financial aid, and basically trying to paint me like a fool on my property.
Yea right. It takes five seconds to find his IP address – and the other three questions I already helped him with. Turns out, he also could have found the answer if he had just read the blog post and paid attention. Well, I went off on that guy right back in the comments – staying calm, not bragging, just demonstrating – and I swear the next 10-15 comments were “thank yous” to me and “whats this jerk thinking” to him.

@ZXT, it keeps it interesting I like having those kind of people around. It would get pretty boring if not.
I think it’s great that you have the guts to write stuff that gets people that riled up. So many bloggers are terrified of writing anything that will offend people, and end up completely middle-of-the-road and with no opinion of their own. Result – no readers!
I’ve never had someone get that angry at me before, but I’m going to try harder from now on :D
As for dealing with them, I’d be happy enough for people to argue and abuse me so long as it didn’t start sending my regular readers away. I think if it got to that point then I’d have to just delete their comments. I don’t like censorship, but I also think regular readers shouldn’t feel intimidated by, as you appropriately called them, morons!
@Pete@Trial Contact Lenses, the word troll also comes to mind along with some other choice words, but I don’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings. Middle-of-the-road.
Before all is said and done someone will jump in here and mouth off, when I post the blogging stuff they hate it so there’s nothing to really be said in those posts. Haha.
All though there is that one blogger that has mouthed off, but he doesn’t have the beans to approach me about it because I will expose him for the medicore blogger he is….at best.
Your blog is opinion based and these morons know it. If they like your site they will stay up to date with it. If they go out of their way to blast it then they have to much time on their hands and they really can’t relate to true life experiences. I like your style, Keep up the good work. It seems morons grow big ones hiding behind a fake username and avatar. Everyone IS entitled to their own opinion that’s why we blog, readers have the option to leave a relevant comment or move the hell on. And most readers in possession of common sense and aversion to public humiliation tend to do just that, but no not the moron they seem to harbor resentment towards those that have an opinion that differs from their own.

Wow you have came across pretty nasty douchebags around here. I haven’t come across such morons yet. If I came across such douche I won’t delete the comment but try to reply “with the same respect level” as you say. I agree that every blogger has their own opinion, if the blogger’s view doesn’t match with the readers one, it’s not necessary that the reader should leave some bullshit comments just to prove their point? What’s the use of that?

@Nehh, I like the concept of people sharing their opinions on things, who knows it might even help me to see a different side of things from time to time.
The morons can’t figure that part out or even consider that as an option, it’s one way or no way. Period.
The morons I’m tired of are the stealth morons attacking my site with bad bots. I’m not getting attacks from distributed systems. It’s not enough to simply ban an IP address when the bot is coming in from multiple directions.
I read somewhere that 95% of the traffic on the web is spam, either spam email, or bot attacks, or the like.
This is literally a crime. That’s a lot of goddamn fuel required to generate the electricity the rest of need to do our business.
Unfortunately, I suspect there’s too much money in it for it to ever go away.

Hi John
I’m the kind of person who does everything not to get into a discussion with others. I just find that I don’t want to waste that kind of energy and there’s so much stress in life already that it’s just not worth it.
I’ve gotten a mean comment on my blog from some guy saying that he would kick me in the head if he saw me in the streets because I’m a “stupid religious person”. I decided not to delete his comment and leave it there and address it.
There’s good people and bad- we just have to focus on the ones who are nice in my opinion.

Well, I am sorry to see people fight on blog comments.
But this is how it goes when everyone just sticks to it’s own idea and perception over a certain matter.
However, I prefer more adult like attitudes when everyone’s opinion is respected even if it is not the sane with what we think.
I really believe that there must be a certain point you can agree guys, and who knows, maybe shake hands in the end?
Sorry if this comment bothered anyone, but I’m just a fool for happy endings. Besides, we’re moving into 2010, and I think all of us gathered enough wisdom over the past years to be able to show that we can be civilized and show some respect even to somebody who does not agree with us.
We are different and unique in our own way each and every one of us, but each of us has a certain level of understanding over a certain subject.
Without taking this comment for too long, my point is this:
I like John’s blog – and he made a very good job of making his readers feel at home on his blog pages. I would not like that to change because of a debate which has gone beyond some civilized limits (maybe just a little beyond )
I am not trying to play the superhero peace maker role here, just trying to calm you down guys and make everyone’s experience here even more enjoyable.

@Car News and Reviews, I don’t think there’s anything wrong with your response, your response is one of a true adult. Sadly not something that blog trolls typically respect or even understand.
Its unfortunate when people feel the need to act like this but the only thing to do is try to stay calm and be polite yet firm with them and try to explain when you think what they’re doing is wrong and ask them why they’re acting in the way they are.
@Brian, that’s a great approach and so much more peaceful than ripping someone’s head off when they act like a moron, I’m not sure how well it fits me but hey I at least try
I get a handful of morons, but the weird thing is they usually show up on posts that are deep in the archives. They’re always attacking me personally for having an opinion. I’ve deleted some of them, others I changed around for my viewing pleasure…and to annoy the crap out of them.

I can normally handle morons who attack me, but I will not stand for anyone taking a swipe at any of my commentators. I will usually step in a mediate, or if it’s completely over the top I delete the comment.

Some people really get caught up in their opinions, as in, theirs are the only ones that matters. I don’t get too many morons commenting on my sites but I do respond to each one asking why they were so harsh to judge what I had written, accusing me of faking photographs, mis-spelled words, etc. I welcome the chance to respond to these accusations but morons have a tendency to never change their opinions even when faced with irrefutable proof. I read your blog posts because I find your style interesting and your information worth reading, your spelling is not a factor. I actually cringed when I read some of those posts and thought at one point, why is John lowering himself to this guys level with the F bombs and such when it’s pretty obvious the guy is an idiot. But it would have pissed me off too.
